Musings on all things art but especially portraiture by award-winning Los Angeles portrait artist Johanna Spinks, http://www.johannaspinks.com. Please feel free to comment.
This is the old bridge over the Rance down by the port I think? That is the nightclub Rive Gauche behind it? Your style of painting Dinan architecture is perfectly suited to the depth of history held within its ramparts Johanna. You definitely have a 'rich with history style/old masters' ,depth & softness. I have to say that the Rue du Jerzual painting is very very good..-confident. I've seen many paintings of this street. Yours as I say captures the soul- really! I wouldn't be surprised if this is the one they choose you know. Rainey
Master portraitist Everett Raymond Kinstler, N.A. paints Johanna Spinks at his 2007 Art Students League of New York workshop demo, 2007. A moment to treasure. Visit his site at http://www.everettraymondkinstler.com/
Award-winning Los Angeles portrait artist Johanna Spinks knows faces inside out. For years she worked as a top Hollywood makeup artist to the stars applying her artistry to many famous faces before they went under the lights.
Over the years she became increasingly frustrated by the demands of the business and decided to devote herself full-time to her love of classical portraiture - still painting the face, but from now on exclusively in oil on canvas.
Her work, which also includes still life and landscape, has won her national acclaim being featured recently in The New York Times, and earning juried recognition, awards and show acceptances from various art institutions including American Artist Magazine, Art Talk, Oil Painters of America and The California Art Club.
Her affiliations also include The National Arts Club, Allied Artists of America, The Artists Fellowship of New York, The Players’ Club of New York, The Portrait Society of America (Johanna is proud to serve as its CA State Ambassador), and The Portrait Society of Atlanta.
