Guardian Angles...365 Days of Drawing

We tried a new lighting set up in my teaching class at the California Art Institute today to challenge everyone and keep things fresh. An orange light for the shadow side and a blue light with gel for the light side. There was lots of hands-on instruction to be done. How I wish I could have taken more time on mine. I felt I was really rushing.
That never works for me. Never paint faster than your guardian painting angel can fly.

A very interesting challenge with these color choices. Your portrait turned out quite lovely, everything seems to work including the green of the background.

That sounds like a very challenging light set up. You did a great job with it. I love that last sentence: "Never paint faster then your guardian painting angle can fly" - How true!

The orange light is beautiful. The freshness so appealing. I don't know that you needed to do anything else to it at all!

Thank you all...I have scores of head studies from life tucked away, some of them not so bad. But I love the painting sketches you learn from...not necessarily the best-looking but leading you forward on your journey. This was one of them.
