I got back in the groove yesterday with my drawing. Well, kind of. The first attempt failed. A still life of a gem. I wiped it out. Tried again and another wipe out. The third I did was of a simple Billy Can which got me back in the groove. It just kinda spoke to me and I loved the color opportunity it gave me for the soft greys I enjoy.
Ellipses are always a challenge for me.. I enjoyed painting it actually, having to check my drawing all the way.

Love it..
I like the soft greys that you made and I love the highlighted area!!
Hi! I love the soft grays here, too! The kind of painting I'd like to make!
This little can is very realistic and very tactile! I can beat a spoon against it and hear its sound!
Glad you're back in your groove. I'm working my way out of the wipe out stage. Wonderful grays, nicely handled.
Sorry to hear of your wipe-out stage. With pastels I have to just rip them up!
But this definitely is a wonderful gem - really captured the feel of metal!
I really like the surface brushwork here, it says pewter, just right...
LOVE this!! it would accompany "Grandma's Coffee Pot " beautifully!!! I love my painting and am so thrilled to have it home where it belongs!!! It was so great to see you, Rosie, Jessica & Paddy....You truly have a wonderful family!! Can wait to come have a girls weekend!!! xoxo Rosie
Your choice of grays and painterly brush work are lovely. The soft lavender in the background works beautifully with your 'Billy Can'.

Very nice depiction of the metal. Love the reflections and highlights.
Thank you so much everyone. I loved reading your posts. I almost didn't post this one thinking it too insignificant even tho' I really enjoyed painting it.
